An Emphasis on Safety:
Outside Adventure Kids prides itself in offering creative and instructive recreational opportunities for kids. From climbing and hiking to kayaking and biking, participants can experience a variety of activities. However, please remember that all adventure activities, including those offered by OAK, have inherent and other risks. These risks come with the territory, and are part of any recreation and adventure opportunity your child may participate in. That is why at OAK, we focus on running a quality program, to mitigate these risks and dangers:

• We have developed a risk management plan to monitor and address risks and activities in our programs.
  
• We hire staff that is proficient and tested in their area of instruction, certified in first aid and CPR, trained in defensive driving, and thoroughly background checked.
• We methodically inspect all of our equipment.
• We precede activities with a talk about potential risks and how to avoid or minimize them.
• We have staff to participant ratios that provide for individualized attention and good group management.
• Participants are oriented to the concept that safety is an important priority, and each participant becomes a member of the “safety team”. This increases hazard awareness as well as personal responsibility.
• OAK has written activity protocols to promote consistency and address inherent risks.
• OAK programs are age and ability appropriate. We believe that it’s much more important to have a great time than it is to “reach the top”.

Our Staff
Given that outdoor activities involve risk, we focus on promoting safety through participant awareness and high quality staff. All of our staff are proficient and tested in their area of instruction, certified in first aid and CPR, trained in defensive driving, background checked, as well as being experienced with kids and great role models. We design and run camps that are of high quality from a holistic perspective.  Whether it's making sure that we have the latest and safest climbing and kayaking equipment or choosing the most appropriate recreational area to go climbing or kayaking, we try to think of everything.  And, not only do we create an engaging and meaningful curriculum for the kids, we also want to make sure that it is a superior experience for YOU - the parents.  We want every part of your Outside Adventure Kids experience to be of high quality - from your first impressions to your registration to your drop-off and pick-ups at camp.  Finally, we also pride ourselves of maintaining high quality relationships with the schools and communities where we run our camps. ​
